Important installation information

Sage 50 Payroll - You must install your 2010/11 tax year update as soon as you receive it, before starting your year end routine. As well as allowing you to process in the new tax year before you finish your year end, this ensures that you have the correct P60 layouts installed so that you can print correctly to your stationery.

Sage Instant Payroll - You must complete your year end procedure before installing your 2010/11 tax year update. To ensure that your P60s print correctly to your stationery, you must install a new layout from the new tax year update CD. For information about how to do this, please refer to Ask Sage Article 19084.

If you need your software activation key, you can get it here.

Most employers must submit their year end returns online this year. If you've not submitted online before, make sure you register with HM Revenue & Customs for their PAYE Online for Employers service. To register, visit www.hmrc.gov.uk and from the left-hand side, click PAYE for employers.

If you've submitted online before, you don't need to re-register.

Warning

Note: You can only make one submission of a single tax district and reference number via the Internet to HMRC using Sage 50 Payroll or Sage Instant Payroll. If you have a company that is divided across more than one set of data in Sage 50 Payroll but has the same tax district and reference number, before you submit you must use the Multi-Company Data Merge Utility to merge your data into one company.

Internet submissions module

Sage 50 Payroll - If you've installed your new tax year update, you may already have the latest Internet submissions module installed. To check if you need to install the module below, within your software, open Help > e-Submission Version Check.

Sage Instant Payroll - You must install the module below to submit your year end returns online.

  1. Internet Submissions (All current year versions of Sage Payroll / Instant Payroll)

We'll update this page with any important information you need to know about processing your year end or starting the new tax year.

Printing your P60s

To ensure that your P60s line up with the stationery you have, you must install new P60 report layouts. This is because HM Revenue & Customs had not released their P60 requirements when your current software was released.

Sage 50 Payroll - The new tax year update contains the new P60 layouts, so you must install this before processing your year end. Your year end guide contains detailed steps on how to install the update. For detailed information about how to print your P60s, and which layout to use for your stationery, please refer to Ask Sage Article 11386.

Sage Instant Payroll - Depending on which stationery you're using, you must install the relevant layout from the new tax year update CD. You must not, however, install the software update until after you have completed your year end procedure. For information about how to install the relevant P60 layout, please refer to Ask Sage Article 19084.
